Meet the new library liaison for the School of Health Professions

Rebecca Ajtai

The School of Health Professions has a new library liaison: Rebecca Ajtai, MLIS.

Ajtai, an experienced and enthusiastic medical librarian who has always loved science, joined the Library Liaison Services team in March. The primary point of contact for the School of Health Professions, Ajtai most recently spent seven years as a research librarian at the Texas Heart Institute Library in Houston. She also has worked at Rice University’s Bioscience Research Collaborative.

Ajtai urges students and faculty to come with questions about anything and everything via email, phone call or in person.

“We are very responsive,” she said. “We are here to help you.”

Services available include instructional and research assistance, including library orientations, citation management, and database and literature searches. Ajtai has particularly enjoyed working with students over the past several months.

“Teaching these young students have been really fun for me,” she said, adding that the learning goes both ways. “I am already seeing how they can teach me.”

As part of a new team approach, Ajtai and School of Nursing library liaison Emme Lopez serve as each other’s backup to make sure students and faculty from both schools receive the support they need.

Ajtai can be reached at ajtai@uthscsa.edu or 210-567-2428.
