2019 IADR: Dr. Diogenes Receives High Honor & Students Present Research

The International Association for Dental Research (IADR), held their annual meeting and exhibition on June 19 – 22, 2019 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Dr. Anibal Diogenes returns with a Distinguished Scientist Award. 

 

Students were also sponsored to present their research to this international dental community.

2019 Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award Winner, Dr. Michaell A. Huber
 

The University of Texas System Board of Regents have been annually recognizing exceptional educators with the Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award since 2008.

 

Dr. Michaell A. Huber, in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, has been selected for a 2019 award.


Dr. Palaiologou-Gallis Elected to National Board Position
 

The American Academy of Periodontology announced that their membership has elected Angela Palaiologou-Gallis, D.D.S., M.S. to serve as Director of the American Board of Periodontology.

Dental Care in Guatemala
 

Dr. Ahmed Sabbah, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, lead a troop of seven other volunteers on a humanitarian dental trip in Guatemala.

 

The team journeyed to the city of Peronia to volunteer at the Open Wide Foundation’s original clinic.


Keeping Paradise Healthy
 

Established in 2001, the Loloma Foundation has been dedicated to “keeping paradise healthy”.

 

Dr. Jeff Hicks, along with Dr. Prashant Amin, and Dr. Diane Banks Das delivered oral care to patients on the remote islands of Fiji.

OMFR Resident Honored with 2019 Maria Yeung Postdoctoral Research Award
 

Dr. Camila Pacheco-Pereira, a second-year resident in the Oral Maxillofacial Radiology program, was bestowed with the 2019 Maria Yeung Postdoctoral Research Award.

 

The award is named in memory of Maria E. Yeung, Ph.D., a faculty member in the former Department of Pediatric Dentistry from 1987-1999.

Madge Cluck Retires After 28 Years of Service
 

Mrs. Madgeline “Madge” Cluck from the Department of Periodontics is set to retire from her position after 28 years of service.

 

Madge will be greatly missed by all who worked alongside her.
