Assessing the diversity climate at UT Health San Antonio

Dear UT Health San Antonio faculty, staff, residents, fellows and postdocs:

On May 18, UT Health San Antonio will begin a first-ever campus-wide diversity climate survey. We have contracted with an outside vendor, Viewfinder® Campus Climate Surveys, LLC, to administer the surveys.

This will be an initial step in assessing the climate on our campus, which is critical to ensuring our university’s future success and the success of all our employees (faculty, staff, administrators), as well as our residents, fellows and students.

As we continue to grow, diversity, equity and inclusion have become an increasingly integral focal point for UT Health San Antonio. As part of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council’s development of a strategic plan, taking the pulse of our successes to date is key to learning where we may need to do more work to strengthen our ongoing policies and initiatives. At UT Health San Antonio, we seek to continue to provide a diverse and inclusive working environment where all employees and students can be fully engaged, feel safe and respected — and be able to thrive.

The survey results will be used to identify for our university’s leadership team strengths and opportunities related to diversity, equity and inclusion. All employees, residents, trainees and staff are strongly encouraged to complete the survey that will be online from May 18 through June 15, 2021. Students will be surveyed later in the fall of 2021.

We have selected Viewfinder® Campus Climate Surveys in an effort to ensure that your responses remain confidential. No personal identifying information will be collected from you. You will receive an email message directly from Viewfinder® Campus Climate Surveys, LLC, inviting you to participate in the survey.

Every voice at UT Health San Antonio matters and we want to hear yours! Look for a message from Viewfinder® Campus Climate Surveys and please respond to the survey between May 18 and June 15.

More information about this effort can be found on our DEI Campus Climate Survey FAQs page and any additional questions or feedback can be directed to InclusiveExcellence@uthscsa.edu.

Thank you in advance for participating in this important effort to help us better understand university climate perceptions.

Sincerely,

Chiquita A. Collins, PhD, M.A.
Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence and Health Equity
