NIH awarded a $2.4 million grant to UT Health San Antonio and ADA Science & Research Institute to study responsible antibiotic use. The study will be led by principal grant recipient and investigator Georgios Kotsakis, DDS, MS, PhDc.

The Oral Health Program for Elders gets new wraps on their freightliners
 

The School of Dentistry's Oral Health Program for Elders (HOPE) is a mobile oral health program providing oral health care services to qualified nursing home residents living in and around the San Antonio area at no cost.


The Oral Health Program for Elders (HOPE) team is comprised of dentists, dental public health professionals, dental hygienists, and dental assistants who use high-end mobile dental equipment to deliver kind and compassionate care at nursing homes located within 65-miles of UT Health San Antonio to nursing home residents qualified for care based on financial need.

 

THE HOPE team specializes in providing oral health care to geriatric patients living at nursing homes using mobile dentistry. The program provides preventive oral health care and dental treatment to nursing home residents who may not have otherwise have the means to access dental care.

 

Their mission is to bring kind and compassionate oral health care to our cherished nursing home residents and improve their oral health outcomes and systemic health with an aim to increase access to oral health care through our mobile dentistry program and by promoting oral health care education for nursing home residents and staff.

Compassion Path dedication
 

The UT Health San Antonio Compassion Path was dedicated in a special ceremony which included a visit from Mayor Ron Nirenberg.

Eleven trees have been planted along the jogging trail of the Long Campus to create a "compassion trail." One of the trees, a Bigtooth maple, was dedicated to the School of Dentistry.


A night of appreciation and inspiration!
 

Congratulations to UT Health San Antonio employees celebrating milestone anniversaries of service from five to 50 years who were honored May 10 at the Service Anniversary Celebration — the first held in person since 2019.
