Over the summer, a group of rising dental students participated in the Summer Student Research program.  They were each paired with a faculty mentor who would guide them through their research project. 

Cori J. Ballard, a second-year dental student, and her research mentor, Dr. Kyumin Whang, investigated the development of a dental composite with perpetual antimicrobial properties.

Kristi Morris, a senior dental student, has been named a 2021 Presidential Ambassador Scholar.  Due to her outstanding achievements, she will represent UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry at events throughout the academic year.

Michelle Zhou has been presented with the prestigious 2021 International College of Dentists and Washington University Dental Alumni Association Scholarship Award.

Georgios A. Kotsakis, DDS, MS, along with University of Washington researchers and others, published a study on a previously unrecognized range of human inflammatory responses in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Alumni and friends of the School of Dentistry raised over $130K for The Dr. Timothy B. Henson Endowment Fund in Pediatric Dentistry.  Timothy B. Henson, DMD, is a former faculty member of the pediatric dentistry program who remains dedicated to the school's mission to 'make lives better'.

David H. Yu, DDS, MS, an alumnus in the Class of 2000, has been selected as the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Chair by Governor Greg Abbott.
