Annual CTSA Program Meeting Recap

Dear Karen,

 
Before heading into the holiday season in earnest, a recap of the CTSA Fall Program meeting is in order. This year’s meeting was held 11/6-8 here in DC metro area with over 400 participants in attendance, making for intense and engaging discussions on Leveraging Real World Data (RWD) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Advance Translation. Irving Institute Awardee Finds Success Identifying Rare Genetic Disorder

Dr. Jennifer Bain, assistant professor at Columbia University and recipient of the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research Translational Therapeutics Accelerator (TRx) Award has identified a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, “Bain Syndrome.” Her research aims to identify the root cause of the disorder in the hopes of identifying a treatment. Dr. Bain explains in her own words how the Irving Institute helped her make this discovery in the full article.

Dr. Luo Recognized as ACMI Fellow

Yuan Luo, PhD, Chief AI Officer at Northwestern University's Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, has been inducted into the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI). Registration is open for the CCOS LHS Collaborative Workshop!

The in-person Learning Health Systems (LHS) Collaborative Workshop is scheduled for May 22, 2024, at the Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina. At the workshop, various stakeholders will meet to plan future action that can benefit the CTSA Program. Attending can improve hubs’ understanding of LHS, promote team building around LHS research, and can identify how hubs can support LHS.

 
 

Public Comment Period Now Open for Proposed SMART IRB Reliance Agreement Version 3.0

SMART IRB is seeking comment on its Reliance Agreement Version 3.0 by Feb. 15, 2024. Click the link below to learn about the changes and updates included in the new version. It is critical that institutions review the proposed revisions if they wish to continue participation in the agreement. The proposed Version 3.0 is intended to provide updates that take into account received feedback, that reflect the 2018 Common Rule, and that allow other Federal agencies to sign onto the agreement.
