The IIMS hosted its 2025 T1 to T4 in 3 (Minutes) Challenge on October 3rd. This cross-collaborative event between the IIMS Community Health Advisory Board (CHAB), Community Engagement, and the Office of Research Education & Mentoring (OREM) gives community members and IIMS trainees a venue to present their research in 3 minutes to a live audience of community members, faculty, staff and students. Presenters use language and concepts that are easy to understand with 1 slide.

Fourteen presenters (3 community and 11 students/trainee/junior investigators) shared their research findings with 82 online participants.  Winners included: Ciera Price, Anjali Sivaramakrishnan, Michael Brode and Brittany Serna.  Judges included Destiny Mujica, PhD – IIMS Community Health Advisory Board, Junda Woo, MD – Metro Health, and Camerino Salazar, PhD – Health Research in Action.

 

The IIMS appreciates the support of the attendees, judges, and presenters.  Thank you all for a great event!

The 33rd Annual Bartter Professorship in Clinical Investigation was held October 28–29, 2025, celebrating the clinical research enterprise across San Antonio and South Texas.

 

This year’s Bartter Professor was Doris Rubio, PhD, Professor of Medicine and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh, and Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Advancement and Engagement.

Translational Technology Resource (TTR) Award

The Institute for Integration of Medicine & Science (IIMS) is now accepting applications for Translational Technology Resource (TTR) awards to support genetic analyses at the single-cell level and spatial level. The proposed research must have relevance to clinical and/or translational science.

 

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Proposals received on or before the 15th of a given month will be reviewed by the 15th of the following month.

More than 10,000 known rare diseases affect millions of people across the United States. We want to help raise awareness about rare diseases, the people and families they impact and the need for research and development of treatment strategies for addressing multiple rare diseases at a time. We are seeking your creativity and innovation to help us raise awareness through the Rare Diseases Are Not Rare! 2025 Challenge Prize Competition! Whether through visual art, photography, music or another artistic medium, your work can inspire action and shine a light on the rare disease community.

The Translational Impacts Working Group is currently accepting poster abstract submissions for the CTSA CCOS Translational Impacts Working Group Impact Summit, to be held virtually March 2-3, 2026.

We invite submissions from any CTSA-affiliated faculty, staff, trainee, or community partner.

Submissions should highlight the innovative processes, programs, and assessments happening at your hub that support translational impact.
